Last Minute Travel To Florida

Florida is a perennial vacation spot for many, but for college students it is one of the best places to go on Spring Break.

Key West has white-sand beaches and turquoise water. It is considered a tropical paradise for visitors. Water sports are highly popular here such as diving, snorkeling, and exploring the underwater coral reefs.

Miami Beach has become more famous as the years have passed. It is a place where colorful buildings line the streets and shopping is superb, encompassing the most well-known designer shops in Florida. With a variety of restaurants, you will be spoilt for choice in Miami. The beaches are great and of course the weather couldn’t be better this time of year. Daytona is well known for its Daytona 500 races as well as Bike Week, and hoards of college students descend here during Spring Break. While most college students will spend their entire stay on the beach, Daytona does offer one the opportunity to visit the Kennedy Space Center. South Beach is another hot spot that has become just as popular as Miami Beach. Although the hotels on Collins Avenue are expensive, you can find affordable accommodations on Collins between 10th and 15th St. The best thing about vacationing in Florida is that it is quite affordable and the airfares tend to be lower than other vacation spots. However, you need to book early as many students from across the country will fly to Ft. Lauderdale and other major cities in Florida.

Only two and a half hours from New York, time is of the essence when getting ready for a Spring Break vacation. So pack light, preferably carry-on luggage, wear your swim suit and trunks under your clothes and upon arrival, get ready to hit the beach!

Top Five Beach Destinations for Spring Break

Spring Break is a time when college students let loose and vacation in any one of the many destinations known for its great beaches. Considering the economy, some of the more expensive islands may be out of financial reach.

However, there are five top spots college students can make reservations for now and look forward to several days of sun and sand.

* Perhaps the most well-known of all destinations is Ft. Lauderdale. Florida has changed over the years, but Ft. Lauderdale is still the place which college students can affordably travel to during Spring Break.

* Acapulco has become as popular as ever with college students. Now there are more Spring Break packages to Acapulco than ever before.

* While Bermuda is always at the top of the list, it is quite expensive. Therefore, Aruba has become the alternative destination with fabulous beaches, wonderful people, and fantastic weather. Unlike Bermuda, all Aruba hotels are on the beach.

* For affordable accommodations and fabulous beaches, the Bahamas is also considered one of the great Spring Break destinations in 2009. * Finally, for an all-inclusive package to either "nowhere" or from Florida to the Bahamas, cruises have become highly touted as the best possible vacation venue for most college students.

Safety is also a concern this year, especially in Mexico. Crime has risen in well-known resorts such as Cancun, and it is advised not to travel there this year. Acapulco, however, is the exception.

There is one other destination you may wish to consider: Panama City Beach. It has become a thriving Spring break destination. With beach parties, clubs, and pubs, this is one area college students may opt for as a last "resort."

Any one of these destinations would be a wonderful way to relax and enjoy Spring Break. It is highly recommended that you book early. Either check with your travel agent or utilize the online travel companies.
